Specialty medicines are used to treat chronic conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. These medicines often require special handing and distribution. They also can require patient management and counseling.
Maxor Specialty Pharmacy (Maxor) can continue to fill these medicines for Hudson’s members. These medicines can be delivered to Hudson members as soon as possible and Maxor can provide the professional guidance and member education that these medicines require. If Hudson members are currently getting specialty medicines from Maxor, they may continue to do so. In addition, Hudson members or providers can contact Maxor at 1.866.629.6779, or via fax at 1.800.436.9724, for any new specialty medicines that they would like to obtain from Maxor.
Hudson members can also obtain specialty medicines from a community pharmacy in Hudson’s retail pharmacy network as long as the pharmacy accepts comparable reimbursement rates. A Hudson retail network pharmacy will need to receive a prescription to start the process.
Hudson may still require prior-authorization for these medicines to assure safe and appropriate use. Please contact Hudson Health Plan at 1.800.339.4557 if you have any questions about where Hudson members can fulfill their medicines needs.
