Specialty medicines are used to treat chronic conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. These medicines often require special handing and distribution. They also can require patient management and counseling.
*As of January 1, Hudson Health Plan will use the CVS Caremark Specialty Pharmacy as our preferred specialty vendor. Some retail pharmacies that have agreed to participate in the specialty network may dispense specialty medications. CVS Specialty Pharmacy will contact you if a new prescription is required as a result of this change.
To see if a specific medication should be obtained from a specialty pharmacy, check the Hudson Health Plan Formulary at www.hudsonhealthplan.org. Simply select Drug Information then, under Drug Formularies, then select either Medicaid Drug Costs and Formularies or Child Health Plus Drug Costs and Formularies
You can fax prescriptions to the CVS Specialty Pharmacy on or after January 1, 2015 at 1-800-323-2445 or by phone at 1-866-444-5883.
