(Tarrytown, NY) … Many small-business owners have trouble making ends meet and consider purchasing health insurance a luxury they can't afford. But these entrepreneurs, their families, and their employees might be eligible for public insurance programs sponsored by New York State. Business owners will be able to learn more about these free and low-cost health insurance options from Hudson Health Plan, Westchester County's largest provider of public insurance programs, at the 5th Annual Greater New York Small Business Resource Fair at the Westchester County Center on Friday, September 15, 2006, 9 am - 2 pm.
In particular, business owners with children should stop by the Hudson Health Plan booth to find out about New York State's Child Health Plus (CHP) program. "Every child is entitled to health insurance in New York State," explains Mark Santiago, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Hudson Health Plan. "Families of four earning $50,000 or less a year might be able to buy great, affordable health insurance for their children that includes regular medical, dental, and vision check-ups. And, if a serious medical condition requiring hospitalization occurs, the family won't be overwhelmed by unpaid medical bills." Child Health Plus is available to children residing in New York State who are 19 years old or younger.
New York State's Family Health Plus (FHP) program provides coverage for adults who do not have health insurance but have incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid. For more information on Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, or Medicaid Managed Care, New York State small business owners can stop by the 5th Annual Greater New York Small Business Resource Fair or call Hudson Health Plan toll-free at 1-800-339-4557.
