CONSUMERS RATE HUDSON HEALTH PLAN 'TOP PLAN'
IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
Hudson Health Plan Receives the Highest Overall Rating in Latest Consumer Survey from New York State
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 16, 2006
(Tarrytown, NY)…Members of Hudson Health Plan love their health plan, according to a soon-to-be released New York State annual Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Survey (CAHPS). Hudson Health Plan, a not-for-profit managed care organization that provides free and low-cost health insurance, earned the highest ratings in overall satisfaction among health plan members enrolled in Medicaid managed care and Child Health Plus programs in the Hudson Valley region.
The complete survey, known as eQARR 2005, is expected to be posted within the next few weeks on the New York State Department of Health Department of Managed Care Web site www.health.state.ny.us/health_care/managed_care/reports/.
According to Georganne Chapin, President and CEO of Hudson Health Plan, her organization consistently receives high CAHPS ratings. "Many of our members, who are overwhelmed by the complexities of the health care system, think of us as their health advocate and not merely as a health plan. We are virtually a community health center, supporting our members through case management, customer service, enrollment help, and access to a wide range of health services."
Hudson Health Plan communicates frequently with members and encourages them to seek preventive care and regular treatment for chronic illnesses. Members have greater access to doctors because the Plan contracts directly with physicians, particularly specialists who provide services to all members. Hudson Health Plan also works together with physicians to improve the quality of care each patient receives. Each member is entitled to superior care, including timely childhood immunizations, regular Pap smears, extended care of diabetes and other chronic illnesses.
