THE PERFECT HOLIDAY PRESENT WAITS AT THE MALL: HEALTH INSURANCE!
Hudson Health Plan Will Set Up Shop at the Newburgh Mall and Poughkeepsie Galleria to Tell Shoppers All About Free and Low-Cost Health Insurance
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 18, 2010
(Tarrytown, NY)…This holiday season, instead of just wishing for good health and happiness, why not give a gift of good health? Hudson Health Plan is making it easy to learn about public health insurance for you and your loved ones as you do your holiday shopping. Hudson, a not-for-profit provider of free and low-cost New York State-sponsored health insurance, will be at two malls this holiday season to answer questions, and — if you or your children qualify — start the enrollment process.
You’ll find Hudson representatives right next to Santa at the Newburgh Mall and Poughkeepsie Galleria every Saturday, from November 13th to December 18th, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, Hudson’s Community Outreach Vehicles will be parked outside the Newburgh Mall November 13th and December 18th, and the Poughkeepsie Galleria November 20th and December 18th, ready to offer health insurance information or start the enrollment process.
For many in these tough economic times, when even middle class parents and small business owners can’t afford to purchase health insurance for their families, information about free and low-cost alternatives is welcomed news. Thanks to Hudson, parents will be able to learn about available free and low-cost children’s health insurance, in addition to hearing about state-subsidized health insurance for themselves.
Most parents are surprised to learn how many children are eligible for public health insurance if they are not already covered by private health insurance. “Every child younger than 19, whether or not he or she is a documented U.S. citizen, is entitled to health insurance in New York State,” says Mark Santiago, Hudson’s Senior Vice President for Marketing & Communications. “For children who are eligible for Medicaid benefits, Child Health Plus is a free program. For families who do not qualify for Medicaid, premiums for Child Health Plus are calculated on a sliding scale, depending on family income and size. For example, a family of four, earning $88,200 or less per year, would be eligible for children’s coverage at a subsidized rate.”
Children who have their photo taken with Santa will receive special Hudson coloring books and crayons in their goody bags. The public is invited to find out more information by visiting http://www.hudsonhealthplan.org/events or calling 1-800-339-4557.
