GEORGANNE CHAPIN OF HUDSON HEALTH PLAN JOINS ADVISORY BOARD OF NEW HEALTHCARE SECTOR MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AT LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY

Managed Care Expert to Help Long Island University M.B.A. Students Learn the Importance of Integrated Health Care

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 7, 2011

(Tarrytown, NY)…For many years, people who obtained advanced certificates or degrees in health care management were taught how to manage hospitals and other health care facilities. Today, there is a new emphasis on building integrated models of health care that extend beyond the hospital, and that coordinate care for patients wherever they are served. With national reform driving significant change in the health care delivery landscape, a new breed of professional is going to be in great demand.

Designed to serve working health care professionals, the program will offer both an advanced certificate in healthcare sector management and a concentration in healthcare sector management for students pursuing Masters of Business Administration degrees. Classes begin this fall at Long Island University’s Hudson Graduate Center at Westchester in Purchase, New York.

“Integrated care improves the efficacy and efficiency of health care delivery, especially for patients with multiple, complex health conditions,” Ms. Chapin explains. “Hudson is in the forefront of this new approach to health care, which improves the health and lives of patients, and at the same time reduces unnecessary and costly medical care. I look forward to bringing our perspective to Long Island University’s Healthcare Sector Management Program.”

“The M.B.A. Advisory Board, made up of many of the leaders in the field of health care in the lower Hudson Valley, has been extremely helpful in shaping and launching the new Healthcare Sector Management Program at our campus. Georganne Chapin’s input has been invaluable,” notes Lynn Johnson, director of the M.B.A. Program at Long Island University’s Hudson Graduate Center.

Dedicated to the graduate business education of professionals in the health care sector, the Campus’ new Healthcare Sector Management Program is primed to meet the management and business needs of individuals in health care and related industries. An M.B.A. concentration in healthcare sector management gives business-oriented professionals the tools and skills to thrive in this rapidly evolving market.
